Le Chêne Gris is a perfect base from which to explore the delights of Paris. From the station close to the campsite entrance you can take a train direct to the Gare de l'Est in the heart of Paris, the capital of France. The Louvre, the Eiffel tower, the Champs Elysées, Montmartre, the Latin Quarter are all within easy reach. All this without any parking problems!

Although only 55 kilometres from the French capital nothing on this campsite will make you think of the hectic life in the big city. Pommeuse is located in the valley of Grand Morin amongst the green hilly countryside of the brie region.

Charming historic towns like Provins (appointed by UNESCO as world heritage site) and Meaux are within reach.

The region around Paris is full of châteaux, gardens and parks which each display to the rich history of this area. For centuries the successive kings and their courtiers have escaped from the cities and built their delightful residences and palaces in the surrounding countryside.

Just a short distance away from Le Chêne Gris, you will find for example the famous château of Fontainebleau and the 17th century château Vaux-le-Vicomte.

This was the palace, with its geometric and symmetrical gardens created by André le Nôtre, that made Louis XIV order that the palace of Versailles be built, one of Europe ’s most impressive palaces.
